Faye Psychopaidopoulou does not simply paint. She composes visual symphonies where the canvas acts as a stage for an eternal, waking dream. Often described through the poetic lens of a “Nerailouda” – a mythical hybrid of a fairy and a flower – her work captures a rare purity and tenderness that invites the viewer to step into a parallel universe. This unique artistic identity is rooted in a world where the rigid laws of perspective and logic are cast aside in favor of associations and magical storytelling. Her paintings are inhabited by a whimsical cast of princesses and monsters, peacocks, dolphins, and vintage carousels that seem to rotate to an unheard melody. Like a modern–day Alice in a painted Wonderland, she weaves a delicate veil between the tangible world and the realm of myth.
Her visual language serves as a rich tapestry, drawing from the decorative grace of Eastern and Byzantine art. Each piece feels like an intricate embroidery or a constellation of shimmering lights, reflecting a deep connection to folk motifs and a timeless sense of wonder. This artistry is inseparable from her life as a musician. As a professional pianist and graduate of the National Conservatory of Athens and the École Normale de Musique de Paris, she brings a rhythmic structural integrit to her brushstrokes. Her creative DNA is a bold mix where the discipline of classical harmony meets the rebellious energy of rock and punk, all set against the lyrical backdrop of the Beat poets.
Faye’s academic journey further reflects this thirst for a complete theatre of the arts, having refined her visual craft at the Athens School of Fine Arts while exploring the depths of performance at the Faculty of Theatre Studies and earning a Master’s in Musical Studies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her presence in the art world spans from the historic galleries of Rome to her notable participation in the international fair “Art Thessaloniki”. In her solo exhibition, “Horizontal Constellations” at the Mets Arts Centre, she invited the public to witness a universe where imagination is the only gravity that matters. Whether performing at the Athens Concert Hall “Megaron” or broadcasting for the National Radio of Greece, she remains a constant bridge between the auditory and the visual. For her, art is not a subject to be analyzed, but a star to be followed – a rhythmic, glowing guide through the constellations of the human soul.

… Ένας έκδηλος ορφισμός…, μια ψυχεδέλεια, μια μυστική μουσική σχέση!
Μοτίβα, χρώματα, γραμμές συμπλέκονται σε παράξενες παρτιτούρες,
που δεν χρειάζονται μια virtuosité για να εκτελεστούν, ένα όργανο,
για παράδειγμα ένα τσέλο ή έ να πιάνο, αλλά μια υπερβαίνουσα υφαντική
σχέση, για να συνυφανθούν, για να προκύψει το ένδυμα έργο.
Ο κόσμος της Φαίης, κόσμος ονειροφαντασίας, του τσίρκου, των μύθων,
ο παιγνιώδης κόσμος του παιδιού, του republicans
και των παραληρημάτων. Ο κόσμος των απρόσμενων συνυπάρξεων
και των ανταποκρίσεων.
Η Φαίη εμπιστεύεται αυτές τις περιοχές, αυτές τις δυνάμεις …συνθέτοντας
έναν “καλώς συγκερασμένο” κόσμο.

«Η Φαίη ζωγραφίζει κόσμους που μοιάζουν να γεννήθηκαν από όνειρο – ή από τη μυστική καρδιά ενός παιδικού παραμυθιού. Στο έργο της, τίποτα δεν ακολουθεί λογική σειρά· όλα ξεδιπλώνονται με συνειρμούς και μαγικές αφηγήσεις, σαν να μιλούν πλάσματα ονειρικά: πριγκίπισσες και τέρατα, παγόνια και δελφίνια, καρουζέλ, λούνα παρκ, γιρλάντες, κάστρα, λαμπάκια και παιχνίδια – παιχνίδια ξανά και ξανά.
Πίσω από την ασυνάρτητη, πολύχρωμη ελαφρότητα, ανασαίνει μια βαθιά ευαισθησία· μια παιδική ψυχή με τη σοφία χιλιάδων παραμυθιών. Κάθε έργο είναι ένας ρόλος: κάτι που ο καθένας μας μπορεί να γίνει, αν επιτρέψει στην τρυφερότητα και την αγνότητα να γίνουν βλέμμα. Το σύμπαν της Φαίης δεν απεικονίζει την πραγματικότητα – την υφαίνει, σαν πέπλο μεταξωτό. Σαν ύφασμα γεμάτο κλωστές από λέξεις, ήχους, στίχους και σχήματα. Έρωτες πλατωνικοί, νεράιδες του καλοκαιριού, πεταλούδες και παραθυρόφυλλα που οδηγούν σε κόσμους εσωτερικούς.
Η φράση που τη συνοδεύει, κι ίσως την αποκαλύπτει, έρχεται από τον Σαίξπηρ, μα μοιάζει σαν να ειπώθηκε για εκείνη:
«Μόνο οι ερωτευμένοι και οι τρελοί μπορούν να ακούσουν την αρμονία των άστρων.» Οι «Οριζόντιοι Αστερισμοί» είναι η φαντασία που νίκησε τη βαρύτητα. Είναι η παιδική μνήμη που δεν λησμονήθηκε ποτέ. Είναι η Φαίη.»
